Mycelium

Untitled-102.png

With guidance and spent logs from our friends at fungi family, we tried to grow our own containers!

We were able to mold the organic matter to into different 3d shapes. Out of many two tests survived, the block and a trial for soft packaging for a bottle. This material has potential to replace many single-use products.

Single-use products made from mycelium would be:

  • 100% Actually biodegradable

  • Low in emissions during production

  • Low in health/environmental risks

  • Beneficial to the land where it is discarded

We are developing systems that would be viable and beneficial locally in Edmonton.

A replacement for plastics ?

Upcycling single-use plastic waste is part of the solution; the other part is developing replacements.

Mycelium is nature’s binding agent. This experiment looks to harness the binding capacity of mycelium with waste organic matter to create replacements for single-use containers and packaging.
